Isn't Arkham City looking ugly so far?

I loved Batman AA and I still can't wait to play AC, but I kept thinking "wow, this game looks pretty ugly" throughout the entire trailer. I'm not a graphics whore, so this doesn't bother me too much, but I've seen a few games lately (Batman AC and LA Noire) that looked ugly IMO. Both games, especially AC, could improve by the time they come out... or maybe not.

What do you mean ugly? As in terms of art style? Graphically-wise? I think LA Noire looks astounding.

The textures in the game seem low quality. The art style looks the same as AA, which is good. It's not anywhere near the same quality as Crysis 2, Rage, Brink, and other good looking games; AC looks like an Unreal engine game, which isn't necessary a good thing. That's not a deal breaker for me, but I was surprised. Red Dead looks better than LA Noire to me. The faces in that game look like they're made of wax, but the animation seems good.

You've got a good eye. Arkham Asylum was an Unreal Engine 3 game, so it would only make sense that they would be using the same engine. Although, I know that Unreal has good reputation for having "muddy" textures, I have also seen Unreal Engine games to have really good textures.

LA Noire uses a brand new technology for face capture, which is why they may be using a new way of using textures.
