Video game journalism is having a bad week in terms of ethics.  Days ago it was announced that G4 and IGN host Jessica Chobot was secretly in the cast of Mass Effect 3 even while she was reporting on the game. Last night Harold Goldberg the founder of the NY Video Game Critics Circle was presented with an award from his own organization for Best Video Game Book, beating out authors like Neal Stephenson and Jane McGonigal.

The event was held at the Cantor Film Center in New York's East Village, and was hosted by Logan Cunningham who gamers will know as the voice actor who portrayed the Narrator in Bastion.  Also on hand were animator Bill Plympton, and the Daily Show's Daniel Radosh.  

Goldberg's All Your Base Are Belong to Us  won the "Algonquin Roundtable Award for Best Book".  Aside from this unabashed ethical failure, the awards show also gave out ten other Golden Joysticks for New York-themed categories including:

Off Broadway Award for Best Indie Game: Bastion

Statue of Liberty Award for Best Open World Game: Saints Row: The Third

Great White Way Award for Best Overall Acting in a Game: Portal 2

Mad Men Award for Best Videogame Commercial: Long Live Play – Michael

Big Apple Award for Best Game: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
